Non si hanno molte notizie su questo palazzo del comune di Genzano di Lucania, quello che sappiamo è che forse le sue origini sono da far risalire al periodo angioino e che nel corso degli anni ha subito diversi rimaneggiamenti da parte delle famiglie che si sono succedute.
Era la residenza estiva dei marchesi De Marinis.
La struttura, gravemente danneggiata dal terremoto del 1893, fu trasformata in un massiccio palazzo di tre piani destinato ad ospitare gli uffici pubblici e comunali fino al 23 novembre 1980 quando restò fortemente lesionato in seguito al sisma.
Consolidato e restaurato negli anni 1987-1990 è ritornato ad ospitare gli uffici pubblici e Comunali nel 1995.
