I calanchi sono una delle attrazioni più importanti da vedere nel comune di Aliano, in provincia di Matera.
Si tratta di un fenomeno geomorfologico di erosione del terreno che si produce per l'effetto di dilavamento delle acque su rocce argillose degradate, con scarsa copertura vegetale e quindi poco protette dal ruscellamento: si tratta, più semplicemente, dei profondi solchi nel terreno lungo il fianco di un monte o di una collina.
Tra il silenzio e il bianco accecante delle argille si potrà scorgere il volo dei rapaci e godere di un paesaggio bello e selvaggio.
